A coincidence is “a remarkable concurrence of events or circumstances without apparent causal connection”.
You know what? There is no such thing as a coincidence because all the situations and events that happen in our lives are connected.
I was talking the other day with a colleague at work, saying that I kept singing “Total eclipse of the heart” in the office (do not judge me, this song is a classic!) and everybody there went crazy because they had it playing again and again in their mind afterwards. Actually, he told me “You know what? I had a conversation about this song yesterday!”. Coincidence? Nope!
A few days before I had told him that if he focused his mind on something, he had to look for the signs all around that were matching his thought. And that exact same day we also had a conversation about a new sandwich launched by a local coffee shops chain, right after he saw the ad in the elevator, and if I recall, got into another conversation about that same sandwich! (I have not tried it yet though, but I was told it is really yummy)
These are very simple examples of what we focus our mind on is projected all around in our environment, and you need to be aware of it so your perception will help you see the “coincidences” and recognize them as the materialization of your thoughts.
Try this once, get up in the morning, think about an animal, no matter which. Then look for things, situations, events that match this thought. It never fails, if you are aware enough you will find some!
We tend to underestimate the power of the thought, but have you ever had one of these days when you wake up, tired and convinced that everything will go wrong? And then you miss your bus, you stain your T-shirt right after getting at work, bad situations seem to keep chasing you? Or, on the other hand, you get up full of energy and your day goes smoothly, with happy occurrences at every corner?
Well, do not look further, the outcome of your day, and in a longer term, the outcome of your life is totally up to you. Yes, I know, I am ruining right now all your efforts to put the blame on others, contexts and situations when something bad happens to you, like any ordinary mortal.
We like to find excuses for everything that went wrong, for everything we did not do, and it is normal.
Does it seem too much responsibility for you?
Remind yourself that you do not want to be like everybody else, you want to take responsibility for your life and it has to be fun! So if you are not sure you can handle the pressure of being accountable for your own life, just try to focus on feeling happy, seeing the brighter side of any situation, and keep your eyes open for your coincidences, you may be surprised of what you will find on your way.
(This article was written in 2 days, here is what happened in between. During a break at work, we were talking about a French singer and trying to remember his most popular song. We eventually found it and sang it – yes we sing a lot at work- and in the evening after work, a guy in the metro was playing the exact same song with his flute! See? I told you it never failed!)

Wow. That article really made me think a lot! It’s like when you learn a new word that “you have never heard before” and next thing, you see it everywhere!
Exactly!! I got the same thing with the word “rekindle”. I read it somewhere and been hearing it a lot since!
