If you have read the page explaining what I was planning to talk about in this blog, you may have seen that I was supposed to talk about my life. And until now, I have focused more on motivational tips and thoughts. So I guess it is time for me to share how I am doing.
Autumn has arrived in Montreal, most trees are naked and streets are covered with leaves, the sound of my steps being muffled by this natural red carpet. The city gets grey, summer colours going away. I know now that snow and winter will be here in a flash.
I am used to winter joys now, I am no longer afraid of bright sunny days with dazzling snow and thermometers that seem like they cannot indicate lower temperatures. Montreal is a vibrant city, but I never dreamt of coming here.
After spending 3 years in Ireland, a few months in California, my guts and brain could not stand the idea of settling in France (my native country where all my family lives) and, while browsing the Internet looking for opportunities, a job offer just popped out. I met the requirements, I passed the interviewing process, and here I am! I do not really know where I would be if I did not click on this job offer.
What would my life look like?
Who would the people I meet and hang out with be like?
Would I feel complete?
Would I be happy?
There are so many questions I can ask myself, so many what-ifs that have no answers. The only thing I know is that I would not change my life if I had the choice. I would not go back, would not take any other decisions than the ones I have been taking until now. Because they all felt right at the time and, even if the outcome was not always the happiest, I never gave second thoughts to what my decisions and the opportunities I seized led me to live.
We create our own destiny, there are not right or wrong decisions, there are only decisions. We do not want to regret the opportunities we did not take, we do not want to wish to go back and change the past.
I will not settle for rational, for security or for the risk to regret the chances I did not take. And so should you!
See?? I cannot help but giving a motivational speech again!
Anyway, I like my life, I am proud of where I am today, geographically and spiritually speaking, and I will not get satisfied with what I have. I will go further, I will go higher, I will take risks and get surprises. So yes, I chose to live my life this way, I sacrificed moments with my family and I miss them and think of them every day. But I also learnt that I may never have been able to tell them how much I love them by staying near them and taking them for granted.
Thank you for reading this post, and I wish you to live your life with no regrets, whatever the way you choose to live it, and whatever the decisions you make.
