5 ways to create a powerful daily routine with ease

Without the overwhelm to trying to do everything at once!

By Cecile Thomas

The overwhelm caused by the constant battle between the “take care of yourself” and “be productive” is REAL!

Now more than ever your feed is full of self-care tips or articles to 10x your productivity. And chances are that you feel guilty about yourself if you spend your whole day just pampering yourself and Netflix and chilling or burnt out if you squeeze in as many tasks as possible, whether it is on your business or the many new skills you want to learn.

You go to bed swearing that tomorrow you will stick to your plans of doing more because you didn’t do enough today, you get up already drained at the idea of everything you need to get done.

It doesn’t have to be that way!! But how to avoid the overwhelm and make the most of your day?

“Write it on your heart that every day is the best day in the year”   – Ralph Waldo Emerson

1- Do what feels good

Forget about all the good reasons why you need to make it happen X gives you. Forget about all the arguments Y have to make you prioritize self-care.

Listen to yourself.

What do you want? What do you need?

If you need to rest and eat nachos, do that.

If you need to work 8H straight, do that.

If you need a bit of both, plan both.

We are all different! What works for some don’t work for others. The only person standing in your shoes is you!

At the end of day, you know what’s best for you, nobody gets to tell you what’s right or wrong. Own it!

2- Focus on your goals

Realize that regardless of what people will say about what you need to do or not do, you are the one in control of your life.

Bring your goals to mind. You don’t have goals? Fine, now is the time to start thinking about them!

What do you want to achieve 3 months, 6 months, a year from now?

What do you need to do, have and be to achieve them?

When you get clear on what you want to achieve, you have a direction to follow and can plan as you spend your days accordingly.

Your dreams and goals are different than mine and anybody else’s. What other people do is irrelevant for your own journey.

Your life is about you, you get to decide where you’re going and how you will go there.

3- Plan your day

Or even better, plan your week. What to you want to get done by the end of the week?

Make sure to set a weekly goal that is ATTAINABLE! Remember that you are trying to avoid overwhelm, not adding to it! Nobody is expecting you to master a new language in 2 weeks or be as flexible as a yogi overnight

Set an objective for the week, and create a daily action plan. This process will help you to get the layout of your tasks and to be clear on what needs to be done everyday.

4- Exercise

I exercise daily before breakfast. Why? because it kickstarts my day. Even if I plan to get back in those PJs afterwards, exercising boosts my energy, makes me on track for the day ahead and makes me feel good about myself!

Exercising is also a great way to create a shift in your physiology. If you feel bored, tired or need to reset your mind, moving your body will help keep the juice flowing.

I don’t need to make the list of the great benefits of exercise, fitness trainers and doctors do this better!

Just keep in mind that it is one of the best tricks to raise your vibration and boost your mindset and self-confidence!

The good news is, you don’t need to be a fitness addict to use this trick, dancing in your room or doing 10 squats will work wonders!

5- Focus on one thing at a time

I am guilty for wanting to do everything at once. I am clear on my goals, I know where I am going and what needs to be done, but I still want to do it all at once.

Can you relate?

The problem with trying to multitask is that most often, nothing gets done.

If you have multiple projects and plans, make sure to set time aside for EACH of them and commit to focus only on ONE thing.

You want to keep moving, you want to progress, am I right?

Everything is a process and you will most likely always feel like you have a lot to do. Use your focus to get things done in an orderly manner, and make sure to prioritize the important but non-urgent tasks to avoid any further overwhelm!

You got this. And don’t forget that absolutely no one gets to decide what’s best for you.

Your life, your goals, your pace, as long as you keep going.
