What’s Your word?

A new year has come, full of promises and new chances. I wish you to take the opportunities every single day of this year will bring, to live wonderful adventures and most of all to stay true to yourself. And, I wish you to enjoy every breath you will take.

There is a ritual I have (it actually began last year but was pretty effective, so I plan on doing it every year), which consists in choosing a word at the beginning of the year, that will be the main theme of the next 12 months. I find it effective because there are many aspects of my life I want to improve on a constant basis, but how do you want to improve everything when your mind is always shifting from one thing to another, resulting in taking contradictory actions and leading to status quo? The key is to focus on one aspect at a time, and to take the actions leading to the improvement expected.

Let me illustrate my speech with my experience. Back in 2016, I chose the word «Love», in its most general way. I decided that 2016 would be the year where I would give love to my life and to what I have, love to others, where I would learn to appreciate even more what comes in my life experience, unconditionally, without any expectation in return. I could not say I was 100% successful, you cannot imagine how hard it is not to expect something in return of what you give! But I am way better at this now! 12 months later, looking back at what have been achieved, I realize that I gained patience, tolerance, and most of all (and it actually put a smile on my face) a loving man by my side with whom I was lucky enough to begin this brand new year with! I did not spend my days thinking of that word I chose in the first days of January 2016, I went on with my life, trying to get closer to my ideal inner self, but I had sent my intention to the universe, and I totally got what I had asked for!

So, are you ready to play the game? My word for 2020 is «Health», and I plan to take real good care of myself, get rid of unhealthy habits and build successful rituals for my physical and mental health. Your turn now, what word will rule your year?
